Community Policing Update – Late March to Early AprilDuring the past week, neighbourhood policing teams (NPT), PCSOs and response officers have been carrying out a range of enforcement and reassurance activity across York to keep our communities safe. On 28 March, officers attended an address in the Settle House area of York to carry out a welfare check. While there, two wanted individuals were located and arrested. Further enquiries at the address led to both being arrested for drug‑related offences. The female was later charged with shop theft, and both individuals were remanded to court with bail conditions in place. On 30 March, officers working alongside response colleagues arrested a male wanted on prison recall at an address on Middleton Road. Later the same day, another wanted male was sighted and arrested for breaching a civil order, as well as offences of public order and criminal damage. On 31 March, City Centre NPT officers stopped a vehicle in the Acomb area following information that the driver may be driving while over the legal limit. The driver failed a breath test and was charged to court. That same day, three males were arrested following reports of an e‑bike being stolen near Millennium Bridge. Officers carried out a coordinated area search and all suspects were located and arrested within a few hours. On 2 April, while assisting with an unrelated incident in the Clifton area, PCSOs recognised a male wanted in connection with a robbery at Heron Foods in Acomb, along with several shop thefts across York. After a short foot chase, the male was arrested. He has since been charged with the shop theft offences and released on bail while enquiries continue into the robbery. Officers also: We will continue to patrol and work closely with the community to address concerns and keep neighbourhoods safe.
